Nowadays, there are so many types of foundation — liquid, pressed powder, loose powder, mousse, etc. — that it can be hard to know which one to pick. Of course, they all technically do the same thing — create an even complexion, cover imperfections and change your skin tone if necessary — but they all have different qualities.
Not forgetting to mention that there are seemingly endless ways to apply it! Some people prefer to use a beauty blender, others like a stipple or foundation brush, and the rest just use their fingers. However, the way you choose to put it on your skin does affect the result but, that’s a different story.
Anyway, we know you’re here for one thing and one thing only. So, let us get on to reviewing our product of the day — L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup, W3 Nude Beige, 1 fl. oz.

The Description
As you can expect, most foundations come with a whole list of things that the brand claims it can do. This one is no different.
SPF Content
This foundation contains SPF 20 which is great for your all-day outings and saves you having to put suncream on under it. Having said this, it isn’t a feature that is exclusive to this product since most makeup incorporates it into their formula.
Colours
We have always admired L’Oreal for their wide range of colour options. Thankfully, they made sure to develop numerous tones for this one too. It was pretty easy to find our shades!
Coverage
It is marketed as a medium coverage foundation which is great for people with a few pimple scars, discolouration and other imperfections. However, if you are looking for buildable coverage, you should give this one a miss.
We should also mention that it didn’t sit on our skin for too long. Within a few hours, our skin was showing through! So, if you have a lot of redness on your face, it won’t treat you like the queen you are.
Although, it does give you a gorgeous glow for a few hours so could be good for a short work meeting or gathering of friends.
Consistency
Whenever a foundation bottle has the word “luminous” in the title, you expect it to be smooth and creamy, right? L’Oreal has managed this perfectly, without it being too thin or runny.
Application
So you don’t have to, we have tested each application method: brush, beauty blender and fingers. We know that most people hate the thought of using their hands to apply foundation but we’ve noticed that this is the best method here.
It’s important to note that, whichever method we used, it was pretty hard to blend! It took an unnecessary amount of time to get rid of the streaks and for the colour to settle in nicely.
Packaging
Truth be told, we love the packaging! Usually, drugstore foundations do not come in such a well-thought-out pump bottle (typically, you have to open them up and pour it out). Its design makes for a mess-free makeup station since there are no chances of spilling it when getting the product out.
Pricing
On Amazon, you can buy this foundation for $9.99/£8.20. Usually, purchasing from a high street drugstore is more expensive than this. Then again, if you calculate shipping costs you might be spending more than it’s worth.
In all honesty, it is a decent price, but there are better foundations out there (for the same amount of money) which will work better.
The Quick-Look Pros
- Fantastic packaging — pump bottles are so convenient
- SPF 20 is included in the formula
- Smooth and creamy
- Not too runny
- Lovely, illuminated skin
The Quick-Look Cons
- Not a buildable formula
- Not a full coverage foundation (it is medium coverage)
- Does not last long at all
- Hard to blend (regardless of the application method)
- Leaves streak marks (with a boatload of patience you can buff them in but it takes far more effort than it should)
The Bottom Line — Love It or Lose It
Now, the real question is: would we recommend that you run out to the store and buy this? In all honesty, no.
While the formula is nice and we had no problem finding the right shade, the coverage is not buildable, it’s incredibly hard to blend, and it doesn’t last long on the skin. In short, the most important checkpoints you want a foundation to pass on, L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup just didn’t quite hit them. Of course, we aren’t going to waste the bottle, but we definitely won’t be purchasing this one again.
Having said this, you can always try the other products from their same True Match line as we’ve had much better experiences with those!
